This natural Lychee and Pineapple fragrance oil is perfect for skin care projects such as masks and scrubs. This fragrance oil smells like sweet lychee and tart fresh pineapple mixed with citrus. the fragrance has a light floral and sugary base.

These oils are formulated with natural materials. Individual aromatic components are isolated from a plant and mixed with other isolates to make a fragrance mixture.

What are natural fragrance oils and how are they made?

Natural fragrance oils come from natural sources such as cucumber, raspberry and lavender – but how they are made is unique.

Plants consist of multiple aromatic components. For example, let’s look at Bulgarian lavender; some of its main constituents are linalyl acetate, linalool, b-caryophyllene and terpinen-4-ol. Together they give lavender its distinctive floral scent.

To make a natural fragrance oil, one of these substances is isolated from the plant. These individual aromatics are called isolates. They are ISO 9235, which means they are classified as natural by the International Organization for Standardization.

The isolate is then mixed with other isolates from different plants. Linalyl acetate from lavender, which smells floral and citrusy, could be mixed with ethyl acetate from orange, which smells sweet and fruity. These isolates can also be mixed with essential oils.

The blending process has several advantages. Natural fragrance oils consist of multiple components from different plants. As a result, they smell complex and can be more interesting than a single essential oil. They are also more consistent because they are less affected by batch variation.

There are also more natural options to choose from. Certain varieties, such as vanilla and strawberry, do not produce essential oils. However, they consist of constituents that can be isolated. That means you can enjoy a crisp apple scent that is all-natural.
