This lavender honey and lemon soap recipe is a delightful and indulgent soap-making that is perfect for those looking for a gentle yet effective cleansing experience. The combination of these natural ingredients creates a soap that not only cleanses the skin but also nourishes and protects it.
Ingredients
- 910 g goat’s milk melt-and-pour soap base
- 1 lemon rind, zested
- 3 tbsp of dried lavender buds
- 2 tbsp of honey
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 6 drops of lemon essential oil
- Jar or bowl for melting soap base (in the microwave or double boiler)
- Grater
- Silicone mold
Instructions
Step 1: Chop the melt-and-pour soap base into smaller pieces. It will melt faster this way. Place in bowl and microwave. Be careful to watch soap and not let it burn. If you are using a microwave, heat in 30-second increments, stirring frequently.
Step 2: Zest your lemon. Be sure to wrap it on a piece of paper and press out any extra fluid. This prevents it from clumping together in your soap. Side note: the glycerine in the goat milk soap base acts as a preservative and keeps the lemon rind from molding.
Step 3: While your soap chunks are in the microwave, measure out your lemon zest, lavender, and honey in small bowls for easy adding once your soap is melted. Once the soap is melted add your essential oils first.
Step 4: Have your mold ready to go, on a flat, even surface. You’ll want to move quickly before the soap cools too much. Mix everything thoroughly again, and pour the mixture into the mold.
Step 5: Once the mixture is poured into the mold, I like to sprinkle extra lavender buds on top for aesthetics. Do so while it’s still warm so buds solidify with soap. Let the soap cool for 2-3 hours until the bars are completely solid. You might want to give it an extra couple of hours just to be sure!
Step 6: Pop each bar carefully out of the mold. Take a sniff! You did it. Whew. Wrap or package however you like. Enjoy!
